Law.com highlighted the 2025 Georgetown Law Advanced eDiscovery Institute (AEDI), which took place in Washington, D.C., on November 20–21, 2025. The conference explored the complex and rapidly emerging eDiscovery, big data, and privacy challenges and provided practical takeaways and guidance. Alison Grounds, founder and managing partner of Troutman eMerge, served as a co-chair of the conference.

Alison Grounds, Ronald Raether, and Blackbaud Inc.’s Chief Legal Officer Jon Olson presented the keynote presentation, “Breach Case Study: Lessons Learned From the Blackbaud Hack and Legal Fallout.” They discussed the aftermath of the 2020 Ransomware Attack with a focus on the human element of data breaches, offering a unique perspective that compliments the technical analysis of the related investigations and litigation.

Jason Lichter presented on “Mastering the Data Deluge: Technical Strategies for Managing Large Data Sources.” Jason and the panelists offered technical guidance on how to find the data you need to prove or defend your matter, and how to manage it from preservation through production and use at trial.
