Troutman Sanders and Pepper Hamilton Partner for Global Legal Hackathon

May 20 2020

ATLANTA – Troutman Sanders and Pepper Hamilton have joined forces to participate in the Financial Times’ Innovative Lawyers – Global Legal Hackathon Challenge. The Global Legal Hackathon’s purpose is to “unleash the talent and creativity of the world’s legal industry to collaboratively innovate solutions to the most pressing legal, regulatory, and civil society challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis.”

“The Global Legal Hackathon provides a meaningful way for firms to address the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing us to contribute to the greater legal community by devising real solutions to difficult challenges,” said Jason Lichter, Pepper Hamilton’s director of discovery services.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, the Global Legal Hackathon is taking place entirely online and has over 1,400 participants from more than 160 organizations and 60 countries. During the challenge, teams are working together to conduct market research, design solutions, develop a proof of concept, and build prototypes or working solutions.

“This was a joint, multidisciplinary effort by our two firms to help generate momentum and innovative ideas for solving COVID-related issues impacting the legal industry,” said Alison Grounds, managing director of Troutman Sanders eMerge, the firm’s legal technology and eDiscovery affiliate. “The challenge enabled us to combine the talents of attorneys, technologists, and innovators at both firms to move the needle forward for a good cause.”

Troutman Sanders’ Alison Grounds, Wynter Deagle, Chris Haley and Brian Mink collaborated with Pepper Hamilton’s Jason Lichter, Matthew Hamilton, William GausAndrew Medeiros, and Max Gladstone to participate in this three-week challenge, which will conclude on May 22, 2020.
